We want to welcome Mrs. Bethany Streiff to the Trenton R-9 School District! Mrs. Streiff will be a counselor at Rissler Elementary School. Who or what inspired you to become a teacher? "My mother is my inspiration to become a counselor. My mother was a Family and Consumer Science (FACS) teacher and then transitioned to a high school counselor. She was a teacher and counselor for a combined 37 years. In addition to my mother, I come from a long line of teachers!" Tell us about your path to a career in education: "This is my 10th year as a counselor. I earned my bachelor's degree in elementary education from College of the Ozarks outside of Branson and my master's degree from Evangel University in Springfield. I worked eight years as a high school counselor in a school outside of Branson and last year as an elementary counselor at South Harrison in Bethany. " What are you the most excited about or looking forward to this year? "I am excited to have the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of the students here at Rissler Elementary and in the community of Trenton!"

Who or what inspired you to become a teacher? “All of my previous music teachers have inspired me to pursue a career in music education.” Tell us about your path to a career in education: “I am in my twelfth year of teaching. I received a bachelor’s degree in music education from Culver-Stockton College. I taught for two years at Knox County, five years at Sweet Springs, four years at Bowling Green, and now I am at Trenton.” What are you the most excited about or looking forward to this year? “I am most excited about representing the band, school, and community at competitions and games.”

Who or what inspired you to become a teacher? “I had some great teachers growing up that pushed me and helped me to be the best student that I could be! Their influence inspired me to become a teacher.” Tell us about your path to a career in education: “This is my seventh year teaching. I spent the last six years at Bucklin R-2. I taught 4th, 5th, and 6th grade science and social students for four years, and I taught 7th-12th grade history for the last two years.” What are you the most excited about or looking forward to this year? “I am most excited to work with fifth grade students again! I am looking forward to building new relationships with my students!”

Who or what inspired you to become a teacher? “I have always loved interacting with children. As a child, I wanted to grow up to be a babysitter. As I went through high school, I had some fun teachers and enjoyed learning so decided on the education path.” Tell us about your path to a career in education: “This is my twelfth year teaching. My previous 11 years were with the St. Joseph School District. I have taught first, second, and third grades as well as reading intervention.” What are you the most excited about or looking forward to this year? “I look forward to getting to know and working with the Trenton community. I'm excited about the next chapter of my life!”

Who or what inspired you to become a teacher? “I had many great teachers throughout the years! Mrs. C was one of my all-time favorites. She was an excellent example of making learning fun!” Tell us about your path to a career in education: “I worked at a juvenile center for several years before going back to school to get my teaching certification. This will be my fifth year of teaching, and I couldn’t be more excited about my change in careers!” What are you the most excited about or looking forward to this year? “I am so excited to meet my new second graders at Rissler and show them how to have fun with learning!”

We want to welcome Mrs. Stacey Russell to the Trenton R-9 School District! Mrs. Russell will be teaching at the Success Center at Trenton High School. Who or what inspired you to become a teacher? “I have known since I was a young girl that I was made to work with at-risk children. In the past, I have worked with the Trenton R-9 School District through children’s division using my social work degree.” Tell us about your path to a career in education: “I received a Bachelor of Science in Social Work from Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg, and after 18 years in the social work field, I returned to school and attended Graceland University to complete a degree in elementary education. Unfortunately, due to life events, I couldn’t finish the student teaching portion of the degree. I have worked at NCMC for the past 11 years as a Student Support Services Academic Advisor and Tutor Coordinator. I am currently working on DESE certification.” What are you the most excited about or looking forward to this year? “I’m looking forward to meeting new students and the challenges that may come.”

I was actually her teacher assistant for a year to help her grade and make copies.” Tell us about your path to a career in education: “I just graduated in May from Southeast Missouri State University. I am a first year teacher.” What are you the most excited about or looking forward to this year? “I am most excited about building relationships with my students and teaching them fun subjects!”

Who or what inspired you to become a teacher? “I have always wanted to be a teacher ever since I was younger. Once I got into high school, Ms. Amy Currie inspired me to become a teacher. She is caring and compassionate. She shows love to all her students, and that’s how I want to be.” Tell us about your path to a career in education: “I completed my Associate of Arts in Elementary Education at NCMC, transferred to Northwest Missouri State University for a year and decided to move home to be closer to family. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education over the summer. For the last year and a half, I was a paraprofessional in preschool with Mrs. Cara Leininger.” What are you the most excited about or looking forward to this year? “I am excited to meet my students this year and work with my awesome first grade team!”

Who or what inspired you to become a teacher? “I grew up in a supportive community with a great elementary school. The teachers taught us kindness and how to include anyone and everyone.” Tell us about your path to a career in education: “My college background is in family counseling, but I continued to work in the education field. I was a paraprofessional and then taught preschool for two and a half years. I then decided to get my teaching certification after continued encouragement from friends and family.” What are you the most excited about or looking forward to this year? “I am most excited to start my career in teaching and meet new kids and establish a classroom community!”

"I have always wanted to be a teacher. I helped in a kindergarten classroom in high school, and I loved it! It made me want to work with little kids."
