COVID Information Update 9/9/20

Our first two weeks are complete at Trenton High School and I want to thank the students and their families for the patience you have given us with new procedures - some that are inconvenient for you. This is a difficult time to be a parent, student, and school employee. The COVID-19 situation is frustrating for everyone.

Please know at Trenton High School we want students learning and participating in the activities and sports they enjoy. However, it is a top priority to keep our students safe, and in order to do so we are following the health recommendations from outside agencies. We are working in close partnership with the Grundy County Health Department (GCHD), as well as following the directives of other organizations such as the Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA), the Center for Disease Control (CDC), and Children’s Mercy Hospital.

During this time, the school is in charge of identifying students who are showing symptoms of COVID-19 and sending them home. Students are required to stay home until a doctor's note or negative test is received, or 10 days after the initial onset of symptoms has passed. It is also important to note that any other student who lives in a household with the student showing symptoms will be sent home as well. In addition, it is the school’s responsibility to provide information that could aid in contact tracing when a positive test has been received. We practice social distancing as much as possible to limit those direct contacts, however, there are some that are unavoidable.

Thank you again for the help you have provided as we have started the new school year. Please continue screening students in the mornings. If they have symptoms, keep them home. Please also promote hand washing and sanitation and emphasize social distancing. We appreciate all you are doing in helping us work towards our goal of providing a quality education in a safe learning environment.
