Homecoming

Fall is in the air and it’s time for another Trenton High School Homecoming. Seventy-five years ago in 1944 Dixey Walker (my grandma) was crowned by S.M. Rissler as Trenton’s first Homecoming Queen. Since that time Trenton has continued to have one of the most vibrant Homecoming celebrations in North Missouri and we have lots of activities lined up this week that will continue the proud Homecoming tradition of THS.

Students and staff at THS will be celebrating Homecoming many different ways. The festivities kicked off last week with the THS Student Council decorating the windows of many businesses across town and turning the THS Commons into a ‘50s diner. STUCO has also partnered with Hy-Vee floral to sell black-and-gold mum corsages for the Pep Rally and dance for $10. Thank you to all the businesses who have partnered with us to spread school spirit.

The fun continues on Monday with the Dress-Up Days. Monday students and staff will be wearing white t-shirts and Poodle skirts for ‘50s Day. Tuesday there will be lots of Hawaiian shirts for Beach Boys Day. Wednesday is Hippie Day, Thursday is ‘80s Day, and Friday is Blackout Day. The Homecoming Pep Rally will be Wednesday night at C.F. Russell Stadium. The 2019 Homecoming Court will be recognized and the Homecoming Queen coronated. THS alumni, Biology Teacher, and Wrestling Coach Charlie Bacon will be speaking. All former Homecoming queens are invited to attend the rally and be recognized. There will be a bonfire immediately following the Pep Rally at the fairgrounds.

The school day on Friday will be filled with lots of fun activities to encourage Homecoming spirit. Students will be working to build floats, create banners, and chalk a section of pavement at C.F. Russell Stadium which will be on display for the evening’s crowd. School will be dismissed early on Friday for the Homecoming Parade, which will begin at 2:00 p.m. Kickoff for the Homecoming game against Princeton will be that night at 7:00 p.m. The dance will be that evening immediately following the game in the THS Commons.

We hope you will participate in the festivities this week and help carry on the long and proud tradition of Homecoming at Trenton High School.
