Dr. Johannah Baugher Selected as 2023-2024 Director of Academics

The Trenton R-9 Board of Education has selected Dr. Johannah Baugher as the next Director of Academics. Dr. Baugher will begin her duties with the district on August 1, 2023.
Dr. Baugher brings 14 years of educational experience to her new role. Dr. Baugher most recently has served as an Associate Professor for Northwest Missouri State University for six years. Her previous positions include serving as a teacher education instructor at North Central Missouri College (five years) and an elementary teacher at Grundy County R-5 School District (three years).
“The Board of Education and I are very excited to bring Dr. Johannah Baugher to the Trenton R-IX School District. Her plan to prioritize effective instructional practices, strategic professional development, and the continued development of a robust curriculum in order to ensure success for all students resonated with the hiring committee,” commented Mr. Daniel Gott, Trenton R-9 Superintendent. “We are excited to see the impact Dr. Baugher has on student achievement in our district.”
Dr. Baugher earned a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Northwest Missouri State University, a Master of Science in Education from Northwest Missouri State University, and a Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis from University of Missouri-Columbia.
Dr. Baugher’s vision for the district is focused on developing a collaborative professional learning environment. Dr. Baugher stated, “As an educational leader, I believe in authentic, transformational leadership rooted in principles which promote open communication, trust, respect, and productive collaboration. I believe in creating and sustaining an academic learning community where all of its members can flourish and succeed.”
Dr. Baugher and her husband Blake reside on a farm outside of Spickard, Missouri. Dr. Baugher is excited about her transition to the Trenton R-9 School District and shares her passion for her upcoming role. “I am very passionate about pedagogy and desire to share my learning with others through a collaborative commitment to teaching, learning, professional development, and academic excellence.”
Dr. Baugher will be replacing Dr. Jill Watkins, who has served as an Instructional Coach/Director of Academics since the fall of 2021. (Press Release by Dr. Jill Watkins)
