Homecoming Around the World
The week of activities commemorating Homecoming will be held September 10th through September 15th. The Homecoming theme is Homecoming Around the World.
The THS Student Council feels that school spirit began as early as Rissler for them, so they are encouraging all of the students and faculty at all of the schools to actively participate in carrying on the spirit of Homecoming.
Many area businesses have agreed to allow the Student Council to paint their windows to show support for the Trenton Bulldogs. A big thank you goes out to each of them for supporting us.
Spirit Week will begin on Monday with A Night in Paris. Tuesday is Hawaiian Luau Day. Wednesday is Arabian Night, Thursday is Australian Down Under, and Friday will be Black Out Day, where we wear the traditional black clothing.
As part of the Homecoming activities, the student council will be taking attendance each day of the week for school spirit, and at the Homecoming football game. During each lunch shift prizes will also be given by the student with the most spirit. The homeroom classes will also be allowed to decorate their doors. A pizza party will be awarded by the student council for the homeroom door that wins. The R9 Mascots will award prizes within each building for winners of the best costumes each day. Trenton High School will also dedicate the morning of homecoming as a time to assemble their homecoming floats. This allows all students an opportunity to be involved in the homecoming spirit.
The traditional pep Rally will be held Wednesday, September 12th at 7:00 p.m. at C.F. Russell Stadium. The guest speaker will be Paul Cox. All of the fall sports teams will be introduced and the coronation of King and Queen and the court to follow.
Candidates for Homecoming queen are seniors Elle Neal, Karissa Brock, and Teresa Yoder. Senior King Candidates are Nick Wattenbarger, Jaden Whitney, and Carson Radcliff. Junior attendants are Kendall Crowley and Jerrick Stotts. Sophomore attendants are Chloe Harris and Beau Ireland. Freshman attendants are Shay Westerhoff and Trager Leeper. The Prince and Princess of Homecoming are Addilyn Lebsack daughter of Chase and Larissa Lebsack and James Guthrie, son of John and Amy Guthrie.
School will dismiss early on Friday, September 14th 1:07 for the parade, which will begin from the high school parking lot at 2:00. Being honored for their many years of dedication to the Trenton R9 School District is Grand Marshall Dave and Ruby Woodson. The parade route will be from the high school parking lot, north on Normal, west of 17th Street, south on Harris, east on 9th Street to Hardees, and back to the high school parking lot.
Prior to the kick-off Friday night, the queen and king and their court will be introduced. The girls will be escorted down the 50-yard line by their fathers. Assisting with the introductions will be the THS Marching Band, under the direction of Tim Gilham, and the THS Colorguard, under the direction of Kelli Griffith. The pre-game activities will begin at 6:30, with the royalty being introduced and escorted across the field. Kick-off is at 7:00.
On Saturday evening, the spirit of Homecoming will continue with a dance for the students. The music will be provided by the professional Kjam the DJ by Kevin Klinginsmith. The dance will be from 8-10:30 p.m in the high school commons. Admission to the dance is $6 per person. Bailey Studio of Chillicothe will also be available to take pictures that the students can purchase.
